Ice Version Information

You can retrieve the Ice version you are using (at run time) or building with. The exact API depends on the language mapping:

Ice header files include the definitions of three macros that expand to the Ice version you are building with:

#define ICE_STRING_VERSION "3.7.3" // "<major>.<minor>.<patch>"
#define ICE_INT_VERSION 30703      // AABBCC, with AA=major,
                                   // BB=minor, CC=patch

#define ICE_SO_VERSION "37"

ICE_INT_VERSION is an integer literal in the form AABBCC, where AA is the major version number, BB is the minor version number, and CC is the patch level, for example, 30703 for version 3.7.3. For alpha and beta releases, the patch level is set to 5x (alphas) or 6x (betas) so, for example, for version 3.7a3, the value is 30753.

ICE_STRING_VERSION is a string literal in the form <major>.<minor>.<patch>, for example, 3.7.3. For alpha and beta releases, this string version is <major>.<minor>[a|b]<number>, for example, 3.7a3.

ICE_SO_VERSION is a string that contains the version in the soname for the Ice library. For releases, it's in the form "36" or "37", without the patch version number. For alpha and beta releases, it's identical to ICE_STRING_VERSION but without a dot.

#define ICE_STRING_VERSION "3.7.3" // "<major>.<minor>.<patch>"
#define ICE_INT_VERSION 30703      // AABBCC, with AA=major,
                                   // BB=minor, CC=patch

#define ICE_SO_VERSION "37"

The stringVersion and intVersion methods of the Ice.Util class return the version of the Ice run time:

namespace Ice
{
    public sealed class Util
    {
        public static string stringVersion() { ... }
        public static int intVersion() { ... }
        // ...
    }
}

The stringVersion method returns the Ice version in the form <major>.<minor>.<patch>, for example, 3.7.3. For beta releases, the version is <major>.<minor>b, for example, 3.7b.

The intVersion method returns the Ice version in the form AABBCC, where AA is the major version number, BB is the minor version number, and CC is patch level, for example, 30703 for version 3.7.3. For beta releases, the patch level is set to 51 so, for example, for version 3.7b, the value is 30751.

The stringVersion and intVersion methods of the Util class return the version of the Ice run time:

package com.zeroc.Ice;

public final class Util
{
    public static String stringVersion() { ... }
    public static int intVersion() { ... }

    // ...
}

For alpha and beta releases, the patch level is set to 5x (alphas) or 6x (betas) so, for example, for version 3.7a3, the value is 30753.

The stringVersion and intVersion methods of the Util class return the version of the Ice run time:

package Ice;

public final class Util
{
    public static String stringVersion() { ... }
    public static int intVersion() { ... }
    // ...
}

For alpha and beta releases, the patch level is set to 5x (alphas) or 6x (betas) so, for example, for version 3.7a3, the value is 30753.

The stringVersion and intVersion functions return the version of the Ice run time:

declare module "ice"
{
    namespace Ice
    {
        function stringVersion():string;
        function intVersion():number;
        // ...
    }
}

The stringVersion function returns the Ice version in the form <major>.<minor>.<patch>, for example, 3.7.3. For beta releases, the version is <major>.<minor>b, for example, 3.7b.

The intVersion function returns the Ice version in the form AABBCC, where AA is the major version number, BB is the minor version number, and CC is patch level, for example, 30703 for version 3.7.3. For alpha and beta releases, the patch level is set to 5x (alphas) or 6x (betas) so, for example, for version 3.7a3, the value is 30753.

The Ice.stringVersion function returns the Ice version in the form <major>.<minor>.<patch>, for example, 3.7.3. For beta releases, the version is <major>.<minor>b, for example, 3.7b.

The Ice.intVersion function returns the Ice version in the form AABBCC, where AA is the major version number, BB is the minor version number, and CC is patch level, for example, 30703 for version 3.7.3.
